Good Guys Accounting was founded by Wesley Gutknecht and Dominic Giovannetti, both experienced CPA's with extensive backgrounds with Big Four public accounting and helping small, scaling businesses achieve growth. After years of working with growing companies to navigate challenges and scale effectively, Wesley and Dominic decided to combine their expertise to serve their local community and empower small business owners and startups. Their mission is to provide personalized, high-quality accounting and financial guidance by leveraging their experience to help others succeed. By creating their own firm, they aim to build lasting partnerships and contribute to the success and growth of local businesses.
Meet the Team
Founder and Owner Operator
Wesley Gutknecht, CPA
Wesley brings a wealth of experience and a passion for helping businesses scale and thrive. Originally from Oregon and graduating with an MBA and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Oregon, Wesley has lived in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1997. He began his career in San Francisco at Deloitte & Touche, where he honed his expertise in audits, technical accounting, and mergers & acquisitions. His tenure provided a strong foundation in accounting and delivering actionable insights to drive business success.
After leaving public accounting and earning his CPA, Wesley shifted his focus to smaller companies and startups, where he played a pivotal role in helping them scale efficiently and sustainably while leading their accounting, tax, and payroll functions. This hands-on experience working with founders and owner operators inspired him to take the entrepreneurial leap himself, founding an accounting firm dedicated to supporting small local businesses and startups that specializes in delivering local, personalized, high-quality financial solutions to empower businesses to reach their full potential.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Wesley has a heart for community and mentorship. He has coached youth baseball and football sports teams and served as a Cub Scout den leader, demonstrating his commitment to fostering growth and development in younger generations and the local community.
An avid coffee enthusiast, Wesley enjoys the art and science of home coffee roasting, blending his love for craftsmanship and precision into his personal life.
Founder and Owner Operator
Dominic Giovannetti, CPA
Born and raised in San Mateo, Dominic is a Bay Area native with deep ties to the community. His education began at Saint Gregory Elementary and Junipero Serra High School. He later graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He is a licensed CPA in California and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in both operational and technical accounting.
Dominic started his career in public accounting and worked in the assurance practice at Ernst & Young where he built a strong foundation in US GAAP and technical accounting.
After leaving public accounting, Dominic shifted his focus to smaller companies and startups, where he helped build-out and scale their accounting and tax functions. He has over a decade of experience in operational accounting roles and is applying this to Good Guys Accounting.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Dominic is dedicated to his family and serving the local community. He actively volunteers for youth sports organizations, including baseball, basketball, and football. He also serves on the Junipero Serra High School Alumni Board.
Dominic has a passion for food and wine, and enjoys hosting dinners for family and friends. He is an avid golfer and plays every chance he gets.
